Clear Browsing Data

Clear Browsing Data gives developers a quick, selective way to clear specific types of browsing data for the current site — cache, cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage — without navigating through browser settings or clearing data for all sites. Choose exactly what to clear, see how much data is removed, and get a clean testing environment in seconds.

Developers need to clear browsing data constantly during development and testing. Login issues? Clear cookies. Seeing stale CSS? Clear cache. Feature flag stuck? Clear localStorage. But Chrome's built-in "Clear Browsing Data" dialog is buried in settings, affects all sites at once, and requires multiple clicks. DevSuite Pro's Clear Browsing Data is purpose-built for developers — it opens in the extension popup, shows data for just the current domain, and lets you select exactly which data types to clear. Each data type shows a count or size (e.g., "8 cookies", "12 keys", "2.4 MB cache") so you know what you're clearing. One click and it's done — with instant confirmation of what was removed. No more accidentally logging out of every website just because you needed to clear cache for one project.

Selective Data Type Clearing

Choose exactly what to clear with individual checkboxes: browser cache, cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage. Clear one type at a time or select multiple. Each checkbox shows the count or size of data that will be removed.

Current Domain Scope

Only clears data for the current domain (e.g., example.com) — not for all sites. Your logins, preferences, and saved data on other websites are completely unaffected. Safe to use without worrying about side effects.

One-Click Clear All

Need a complete fresh start for the current site? The "Clear All" button removes cache, cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage in one click. The page is ready for a clean test reload.

Data Size Indicators

Before clearing, see exactly how much data exists: cache size in MB, number of cookies, number of localStorage/sessionStorage keys. Make informed decisions about what to clear.

Instant Confirmation

After clearing, a confirmation message shows what was removed and how much space was freed. No ambiguity about whether the operation succeeded — you see the result immediately.

Quick Access from Popup

Available directly in the DevSuite Pro popup — no need to open a content panel or navigate to a new page. Click the icon, check the boxes, hit clear. The fastest path from "I need to clear data" to a clean state.

Debugging Authentication Issues

Login not working? Session cookie expired or corrupted? Clear just the cookies for the current site and try logging in fresh — without affecting your sessions on other sites.

Testing Fresh User Experience

Clear everything to simulate a brand-new visitor. See the onboarding flow, cookie consent banner, and default state exactly as a first-time user would experience it.

Clearing Stale Cache During Development

Updated your CSS or JavaScript but still seeing the old version? Clear just the cache and reload. No need to hard-refresh or disable cache in DevTools — one click and the stale resources are gone.

Resetting Feature Flags & Local State

Feature flags, A/B test assignments, and user preferences are often stored in localStorage. Clear it to reset these values and test different branches or states.

Pre-Demo Cleanup

Before a demo or presentation, clear all data for the site so it loads in a clean, predictable state. No lingering test data, expired sessions, or leftover localStorage values to cause unexpected behavior.

Hoe te gebruiken

Open Clear Browsing Data

Open the DevSuite Pro popup and click the Clear Browsing Data icon. The tool shows data types for the current domain with counts and sizes.

2

Select Data Types

Check the boxes for the data types you want to clear: cache, cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage. Each shows the current count or size.

3

4

See Confirmation

A success message confirms what was cleared and how much data was removed. The counts reset to zero for cleared types.
